One problem I encountered using forum_access is with posts existing prior to installing this module.
A moderator can't edit older posts, because the acls don't exists, they get generated only with new posts, which means a moderator can't edit old posts.
I've been looking at tac_lite module, which provides similar features, moderator capabilities etc. It also seems to be handling this old-posts issues and is a little lighter then forum_access, does not use ACL module, instead uses the core node_access.
Who can point out other differences between the 2 modules ?

Please post this in the forums. This has nothing to do with advanced forum.

Use whatever fits your needs.

Since I'm not gaining anything by you using Forum Access, I won't try to sell it to you...
