I was talking with some of the guys from the Jabber community today. They mentioned that they were doing searches for "PHP CMS" in Google, and not finding Drupal. Actually, it's on the bottom of the 3rd page of results.
So, if anyone is interested in playing along, just link to the front page of Drupal.org with the phrase "PHP CMS". That is, a link like this: PHP CMS. I made a post about this on my own site. Leave a link in the comments to your post.

26th
Currently ranked 26th, I'm sure we can raise this a lot if we just get a few extra links in.
Drupal in excerpt of the first
When you search google (with php cms) you get as the first result + excerpt:
In a way Drupal is in the top spot.
How about that adding that nice keywords module...
...so that every Drupal page contains "php cms" in the meta content keywords?
google does not xare about

So, is the module useless or
So, is the module useless or is it for other search engines that take keywords into account? I honestly thought the module would help me.
Not useless
Search engines still look at metadata, it just isn't used for determining ranking. Also, metadata is what search engines use to display a description underneath links. If you have no metadata, then the first bit of HTML is used, which is often just navigation links.

Drupal is now the #5 hit
In 2 days, Drupal has risen to be the #5 hit for "PHP CMS". My post is the #1 hit for "PHP CMS Postgresql" (time to do more Postgresql work!). Thanks to everyone that linked...
PHP CMS
I think it's funny that it's mostly this node which is giving it such a high rank. Maybe we should mention PHP CMS a little more?
Maybe not so funny
If people start to think that we're only there because of Googlebombing, instead of the actual quality of our software. Well, at least they found us. That's better than what happened for the Jabber folks who had never heard of Drupal despite having searched for a PHP/PostgreSQL CMS.

We should also pay attention to PHP CMS MySQL
Since Drupal is the best cms that runs on PHP and MySQL, we should make this fact known too.

Taxonomy term links need a title attribute
This discussion made me realize that the taxonomy term links we generate are inadequate. They need title attributes and this should be based on the description that was given to the term when it is created. I rolled a patch that does just that, please review.

Freshmeat.net
Make sure that each of you goes over to Freshmeat.net, gets an account, votes for Drupal, and adds a comment describing what you like about the system. It is also another chance to use the keywords PHP, CMS, MySQL, and PostgreSQL.

Pgsql and PostgreSQL
Talk about keyword dillution!
We also need to think about the fact that Drupal is a great PHP CMS for PgSQL.

According to Google, if we really want Drupal to rank high in search results, add the following links.
Here are some other suggestions based on analysing my email.

Australia
I just noticed Google has search engine request ranks for other countries. Here are links to help Drupal rank better in Australia.

Word order
I think it's important to note that the order of words has a big effect on the search results:
* php cms mysql - 3rd
* mysql php cms - 3rd
* cms mysql php - 7th
* cms php mysql - 10th
* php mysql cms - 13th
* php cms - 5th
* cms php - 9th
Well, there is something one can do
* php cms mysql - 3rd
* mysql php cms - 3rd
* cms mysql php - 7th
* cms php mysql - 10th
* php mysql cms - 13th
* php cms - 5th
* cms php - 9th

Your topic is showing
Except that you guys left this topic up, so that anyone who googles "best cms" comes here and finds out that you manipulated the results. This is not going to help me make the case in my CMS X vs. CMS Y discussions. Whatever happened to http://www.opensourcecms.com? :(
Sure it helps
It shows that Drupal is really well optimized to rank highly in Google. That should count for something...
