I have been developing with Drupal for the past month or so. I have figured out, with the help of screencasts and articles how to:

Set Up D6 on IIS with FastCGI (had a lot of help with this one)
Re-Create Pre-Existing Designs with Views & Panels
Use template.php to modify the output of $search_box

Because of my spotty (self) schooling in Drupal, I often find problems that are so overwhelmingly complex by the way they fit into drupal.

Case in point: I have some custom css that themes my Drupal search box into the layout. This search box exists in other pieces of software that use the same template on our website. I want to allow users to submit searches from these other non-drupal pages. Not a single suggestion, no "this is non-trvial", no "check this thread out", not even a "You should be reading this API doc...".

5 out of the last 6 threads I made in the Drupal 6 themes forum were completely ignored.

I'm not spamming the boards, I'm diligently trying to explain my problems to the best of my ability. I wait a day before posting again in my forums, so that people have time to find my thread and reply to it. Am I not asking the questions properly? Are my questions not detailed enough?

Is it just that nobody knows the answers to my questions?

Please, Drupal community, help me help you help me.

Review this http://drupal.org/forum-posting

Some of your questions are a bit edge case, off-the-beaten-track sort of things, so its just a numbers game - it may take a while for someone who can answer to even see it.

The bigget thing mate is dont be rude. In our previous exchange I actually gave you the best answer I could with the resources at hand, but instead of investigating it you simply snapped back with a bold/underlined demand for an "answer". This does not ender me to further discussion and earnt the *shrug*.

I applaud you for asking this question-- most people just complain, blame the community exclusively, and don't care how to better create posts that will get responses.

Couple of general comments: If you look at the post count for the theme dev forum, you'll see it's orders of magnitude less than many of the others. It's just not as active-- so its likely to take longer to get a response. Also, although its changing with d6, imo there's just not that many theme experts out there to answer your questions. Most users tend to be hobbyists or coders-- not experienced drupal themers. So those types of questions already start off with a lower chance of getting a response.

Also, have you read http://drupal.org/forum-posting? Point 5 is:"With volunteer support, not everyone gets a response."

I checked the last 10 pages of the theme development forum, and i only found 2 threads started by you. It would be helpful if you provided links to the others.

Regarding http://drupal.org/node/344829: I quickly found the answer with a search of the most likely terms (i posted the answer on that thread) right in the d.o. search box. It's been my experience that threads easily answered by the op themselves often go unanswered.

Regarding, http://drupal.org/node/348355: first, it's not really a theme question. That is, themers (the people most likely to frequent the theme development forum) are not likely to be able to answer a question like that. Second, you highlighted "non drupal" in your subject-- though actually a drupal question, that fact alone would cause me to skip right over it and never even read the question.

One other thing-- nothing turns off potential responders more than caps, bold, and extraneous punctuation-- especially in the subjects. Often that fact alone will cause your post to get skipped. And if people notice that your userid frequently employs those tactics, you're other posts are likely to get skipped as well.

Those are just my thoughts-- obviously i can't speak for any of the other regular posters.
