I want to transliterate these characters for replacing titles with pathauto:
¡ and ¿ (open marks for ! and ? respectively in Spanish)
But I don't know where should I place the replacement for these characters, not sure if they are included at all

These characters have been included since the beginning, however, you need to use an unstable 2.x snapshot of pathauto, which can only be found here: http://drupal.org/node/95354.
