Issue Summary
I currently maintain the Vote Up/Down package which in functionality is quite similar to what Plus1 does. In fact, it does a lot more than that. I've been noticing this module does not have a D5 compatible release and that it needs some more love as well. In my opinion, we can do a better job if we combine the 2 projects.
I'd be happy to give Chill35 co-maintainership of Vote Up/Down. Since Vote Up/Down is a large module, the more the working hands, better Drupal experience we can give to our users. We can work out a merger of the features (since the plus1 type widget in Vote Up/Down needs a *lot* of love). Please let me know your thoughts on this. Also, I am in talk with the UpDown module as well (http://drupal.org/node/298430).
Thanks.

i spent some time trying to evaluate both modules and it would be great to see a unification of the two.

I agree!
That is the philosophy of Drupal, after all:

This is not really clear, what module should I use? Does plus1, vote up/down and updown are going to merge into one module, then what modules are going to disappear?
Thanks

@lelizondob: If they merge there will probably be an upgrade path from all plugins so until they have merged you can go ahead and use whichever you want to

The idea looks very good!!!

Both voxpelli and I are interested in becoming more active co-maintainers here. It appears we are both interested in reducing the number of modules that do almost the same thing. Also, in another issue Moshe Weitzman is also interested in a "recommend" type of module. I should be seeing him face-to-face this coming Tuesday, so I'll try to remember to remind him of his interest.

Nathan, I would be quite happy to get these three similar modules combined, especially in D7.

@NancyDru Sorry, I was not adding a third project to this bug... I was just clarifying the title and subscribing ;-).
