We don't need to duplicate modules because it confuses Drupal end users. You could have provided a patch to the original Picasa module, but a search through every single issue shows you haven't. See http://groups.drupal.org/duplicated-modules-hall-shame for more information.

First of all, thanks for being polite.

As I previously said in the handbooks, this implementation is quite different and done from scratch. There are certainly many marks of cars, they are cars, but porche is different to ferrari... Please just take in example the subscriptions and notifications modules.

Have you even tried both modules and compared functionalities? I thank your effort to avoid duplication and I'm open to collaborate but my priority and budget is to support this module "as is" but sharing as much as possible.

Blessings!

My apologies, I think I was a little cranky that day.

The information on http://drupal.org/node/348954#comment-1191420 should really be on the project's page somehow, so it's clear to users that find both modules aren't wondering what's different. For what it's worth, in #353740: Merge Google Picasa module in this module the maintainer of the picasa.module has been looking for help for a long time. I'd rather have collaboration than two not-that-different Picasa modules.
