Can anyone recommend a module / modules that can do this for me :
I have a taxonomy type with vocabulary name "Sector", which is not free tagging, so is a drop down select.
This drop down might have : Anaysis, Consulting, Engineering etc. etc.
If I choose "Analysis", I then would like to be able to have a free tagging field to include tags that are only related to the term chosen from the drop down.
Is this possible?

Sorry, that's only support for 5.x.
Have you try uncheck Tag and check Multiple select?

I still cannot see how to do this with hs (assuming i have two vocabulary, one single hierarchy for the parent term an the second one with free tags). Can you please provide an example ? Thank you!

ah ok-- you didn't say that earlier. In order to do it with HS it has to be one hierarchical vocabulary as far as i know.
