It would be fantastic if Thickbox functionality in Views allowed for the node title to link back to the node so that users can visit the image's page for more info about the image or to leave comments etc.

the same problem, any ideas?
there was a solution for 5.x, http://drupal.org/node/155715, I will try it for 6.x as well and see
