When I investigate a new module, I comb the site for documentation, issues, patches, etc.
I subscribe to them so that I can keep them all in one place.
Could there be a way to just bookmark a piece of information so that the thread originator doesn't get an email?
Here is the issue that I received from a developer and my reply:

giorgio79 commentedI was just looking if such a request has been posted.
Could drupal.org install sg like http://drupal.org/project/flag to circumvent this Subscribing Madness?
40-50% of some popular issue posts are all but "subs" "subscribe" "+1" posts.
:)

See also http://3281d.com/2009/03/27/death-to-subscribe-comments for a place you can donate.

ronia commentedDear Drupal Friend
I also miss this feature very much.
Bulletin boards have default subscription
option with option to just "watch"
or "watch+receive email" in a very
easy way.
I found a Drupal module that does it too.
Instead of waiting for 3281d which seems
stuck at 21% this module can be installed.
It appears to be a stable one and already
has solved all the problems raised in 3281d
The module is
http://drupal.org/project/watcher
I think the current tracker should be
All posts || My posts || Contents I created || Replies I made || Replies I got || Watcher
Watcher should be just watcher - any content
that I want to watch as long as I want.
When I want to delete I delete it. Thus
making following things easy and not cluttered
like the usual tracker.
