Because the Read.me doc is still giving directions for D5 I wannted to know if I can follow these steps basically. Granted that all the stuff concerning bio-module etc are dispensable and I have already Panels, Author Pane etc installed and enabled.

Specifically I am interested about step 3 (Copy theme/advanced_profile_author-pane.tpl.php and theme/advanced_profile_view_user-list.tpl.php to your theme). Still valid advise?
Any important steps to perform other than standard module procedures?

Thx for anybody with experience for answering. Big props to Michelle for developing such valuable modules and investing so much effort.

It's fairly similiar. Off the top of my head, there's content profile instead of bio. And you don't need to copy any files to your theme unless you want to modify them. And it uses user relationships instead of buddylist. There may be other differences but
I can't think of them right now.

Thx for the very quick response.
Content profile is the official successor of bio so I figured that already. I am gonna give it a try this night, sounds fairly easy. To be honest I am somewhat excited because I really like the demo and the stuff APK is capable of.

ive just upgraded to drupal 6, kinda stuck with this. Im using content profile and relationships instead of bio and buddylist.

But I dont have a my account link on any menu, and to make an account I have to go to create content. Should the account be using uprofile, or just profile.

How does relationship subsititue buddylist, is it still possible to have a buddylist using this?

Are there any examples of sites using apk 6, or any screens of how profiles would look compared to using version 5?

Thanks

@StarPower-Com: APK for D6 is still under active development. I'll write docs for it once it's ready to be used.

No, buddylist can't be used in D6. It wasn't ported because there are already several similiar modules in D6.

@Michelle

I got everything started and after performing the steps described here :http://drupal.org/node/360140
APK works as it should. Of course I forgot to work with CCK.dev at first although I had read the issue well in advance, but I remembered after half an hour of fooling around. Very well so far. Especially because it is so noob-friendly by setting almost everything on its own.
Cannot say how precious this thing is. I am still standing in awe.

I am trying different settings at the moment and I am on the verge of creating a new issue because at the moment I am trying to evaluate if the oddity I stumbled upon a couple of minutes ago is my mistake or some kind of bug.
This module is big fun by the way.

Glad you like it. You're doing good to get that far. I don't think it's terribly "noob-friendly" just yet but I'm hoping to get it there by the time I release it for general use.

Reagrding #3StarPower's query,

I had got APK to work with Panels and still retained the 'My Account' Menu item.
(version = "6.x-1.0-unstable1" from 2009-01-06)

But now when I am trying to recreate the scenario, it's just not happening!
(version = "6.x-1.0-alpha1" from 2009-01-17)

I need to retain the My Account menu item.
Michelle, any suggestions as to how this can be done?

Or am I barking up the wrong tree? Is it a Panels related issue?

@paganwinter: It's a known panels problem.

Eureka!

Found out what I had done the first time. It's too silly but it works!

I had Panels installed and enabled.
I disabled APK, renamed the 'My account' menu item to 'My Profile', and then enabled APK again and I have my menu item intact!

This was precisely what I had done on my first setup. Only that this time I deferred the renaming of the 'My account' menu item.
If I had followed the same steps as earlier, the menu item probably wouldn't have been affected at all.

I don't know if this has been/is being discussed in the Panels issues queue, because I couldn't find any issue when I searched for it.
If you think it is worth, please let more people know about this little hack.

It's just a Panels 2 issue and we will be switching to Panels 3, soon, so it probably doesn't matter much.
