Apparently, a preset was malfunctioning and when failing, deleted the original images it was manipulating. Flushing the preset and/or saving it again (without making any settings changes) seemed to get the preset working right again.

Actually, the issue may indeed be due to flickrsync updating via cron.

Provisionally: Issue seems to be with flickrsync, not imagecache, see above.
