jabber/XMPP integration

It would be interesting to eventually support jabber integration within the hostmaster profile, alongside email integration. The idea would be to provide webmail + chat (a bit like gmail does). There are already ways to integrate ejabberd with MySQL (sample howto, in french) and there are AJAX clients all over the place, of which jwchat seems pretty promising (aka I tested it and it works). Other clients include ijab, ajaxbber and others (more extensive listing (fr)).

On the more Drupal side, there are a few references:

• Drupal/jabber integration forum
• Derelict jabber.module (4.7.x dev only)
• Ejabberd integration forum
• xmpp_server module on hold, last commit sept 2008
• messaging module which integrates with the xmpp framework module

This could be a "gmail-killer" (to stay modest :P).

I would like this issue to discuss how this would specifically integrate with the hostmaster.profile.
