I've tried to send HTML message with Simplenews 6.x-1.0-rc5 and MimeMail 6.x-1.x-dev (2009-feb-08). The links to the inserted images are sent, but the images are not included to the letter, so the reader have to download them from the server.

How is it possible to fix that, so how to include the newsletter's images into the letter as attachements?

This it not handled by simplenews but by Mime Mail. Check the mime mail issue queue, you may not be the first to report.
