Is there a Task Manager for Drupal 6?

voipfc - February 17, 2009 - 17:27

I am looking for a task manager like Task List Advanced http://drupal.org/project/tasks_advanced or some king of GTD module for Drupal 6.

Is there any such beast?

Probably not

Probably not...

http://drupal.org/project/tasks
Last CVS commit: June 20, 2007 for Drupal 5.
No user-submitted patches either.
It looks dead to me...

http://drupal.org/project/tasks_advanced
Last CVS commit: April 3, 2008 for Drupal 5.
No user-submitted patches
Issues unanswered for over a year.
Not healthy either...

There is some Drupal 5 activity in CVS but nothing D6 yet.
There are some user-submitted patches for D6:
and also some promises of the new maintainer since February 9, 2009, in the first discussion.

http://drupal.org/project/storm
This looks great, feature-rich and active, but what makes me uncomfortable is that it is a big vertical one-man application, with all the dependencies which that implies. I remember that the developer used to maintain the Localizer module a couple years ago, for which nobody managed to write an upgrade path after it was dropped, which was a bummer for some. But it could turn out a good solution for someone with a budget which could make things move.

If I needed something for D6 *today*, I would probably assemble whatever I could using CCK, Views, Flag, Rules, and maybe comment_cck

As usual, CR is spot on. I totally agree. While storm looks amazing, and I'm sure i'll put it on a dev and play with it a bit, i'm more than hesitant about using it on a production site, only to have it abandoned at some point in the future leaving me with a difficult upgrade path to something else.

With D6 i find i've changed my entire site building philosophy-- i'm sticking with building block type modules like cck, views, nodequeue, flag, panels, rules, etc. and completely avoiding little one-off functionality type modules whenever possible.

I think project and project_issue will have a place in this space at some point in the future. They recently upgraded to a views based integration and I imagine they will move from hard coded 'category' type fields to cck fields. Once that happens, it will be a lot easier to use project/project_issue for non sw development type projects.

By the way, casetracker has

By the way, casetracker has now an 6.x dev version.

Jobtrack

I greatly prefer http://drupal.org/project/jobtrack to storm.

We're using it in combination with CCK and Views quite nicely.
