I think that slideshow could try to cover many "slide-styles". For example, on the Fresno Metropolitan Museum home page they scroll horizontally the main home banner elements. In fact, I saw that effect and downloaded that module because I thought it would provide me that effect...

I have decided that views slideshow has the effects that I want for now and any additional plugins should be implemented in an addon module. If you would like to do it and need help feel free to ask questions. I would really like to see this made so hopefully someone can pick this up.
