Hi,
I am on Drupal 6.10 and I want to translate a view into French.
I created a view that filters pages based on a taxonomy term and a language. I put that view in my menu. If I click on it, all my stories show up correctly, with the correct language. However, if I click the French link for the language switcher, the same English stories appear. I would like the French version of those same stories to show up instead.
Is this possible? If so, how?
Thanks,
L

Mapping views
I too have hit a brick wall with how to do this ... is it possible?
Has anyone solved this problem yet?
Have followed a link to http://drupal.org/node/335205 which may help... but if not, will keep looking.
Having just this weekend moved from Drupal 5 to Drupal 6 to try and resolve some problems of getting taxonomy and views to work when implementing a multilanguage website, have just started getting my head around the new way of creating a view. Good tutorial I came across to point me in the right direction is at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNCBCx-K3lw&feature=related
My strategy for different langauge versions of a single View
Hello all, first translated i18n site!! My site's default language is English, the other language is French.
Was having the same issue re: Views. The solution is easier than I thought.
What you need to do: (assuming you are using internationalization in the i18n sense of the word)
After setting up your view to filter by whatever node-type, and you have created a view url path for it, like "mycoolview", you setup the filter that filters content by USER LANGUAGE. In this context, if a users language is French, that means a user that has chosen that language in the language picker block. But will also be a users localized language (i.e. if they are using the French version of Firefox) that can trigger the filter as well.
go to Add Filter > group is "Node Translation" > choose "Node Translation: Language" > then "Current user's language"
Now just by going to the page, the view automatically views all posts in their language. That's the basic multi-language views setup!
I got really hung up reading a whole bunch of stuff re: arguments, I really didnt have to
Language swap between 'views'
This has been a great help, thanks. Now when I switch between English and Spanish, I can see the respective nodes depending on language selected and can switch between them both.
However, how do you get round the problem of different titles for the view, which may also have header text?
Click on Spanish and you get:
Ideally, I would like "Fruit" to say "Fruitas" (I think it is for Spanish) and the header text to be whatever I want it to be in Spanish.
Is this possible?
I came across insert views recently and this may be a way round, by creating a node for each language and then inserting the respective views.
I've also found out that I get an error message when I map the English/Spanish taxonomies together, but it doesn't appear to cause any side effects when adding a view following your helpful advice.
The error is PostgreSQL specific as UNLOCK is not available. This I have listed as a bug in i18n. Have just pasted it here should others come across this.
