Issue Summary
This project looks really DEAD.
The group page is not updated in years, the SoC page is Gone, Google don't seem to be actively developing the docs api for Drupal...
But still on 5.x this module Kicks Ass ! I'm not using it, but i installed a clean Drupal5 just to test this mod, and besides the 'bugs' it runs smooth and works like expected.
So What's the deal? Are there more ppl out there that want this mod in 6.x? or... am i missing some development somewhere that makes C_E obsolète ??? (cause i can't figure out why this mod died...) If so, pm/fax/sms/call/mail/fly to me Please! would like to know 'bout it.
Anyway, keep it up, ill check back here later this week.

I'm interested in this module. I had the idea independently and was just about to start hacking something together from scratch. I'm surprised there isn't more interest on something like this out there. Some organizations don't want to use Google Docs because they want their data on their servers. I'll check out HEAD and see what I can do. Probably a lot easier than starting from scratch.
Granted, this reply is like a year old but maybe it'll be read?

Because you still got my attention, i am having the same 'problem' you addressing, we do not want to use google docs.
Maybe we can do some work on this? I know it's almost the next year, but this still is functionality that's needed, also in Drupal 7 and i have some time the coming months.

This module seems abandoned :( ...someone was asking about something like this in #drupal-contribute yesterday. Maybe they'll pick it up.
