This is coming very soon now. I have been offered help from another objective-c developer to finish off the remaining tasks. I have been way too busy with client work to get back on it for the past while :(
I'll post an update here sometime next week with the status of the project after I meet with my new helper!
#9
oh and yes, this will be available in ALL appstores for all countries and will be completely free.

I am a little confused.
how is this code(#23) used?
Are there instructions or a Readme on the iDrupal module?
Thanks
Chris

The link in post #23 is to the set of objective C files used to create the actual locally-run application that goes on the iPhone. This would be imported into the development tools on a Macintosh and used to develop or enhance your own iPhone Drupal application.
The author of this iPhone application is in the process of submitting this to Apple for publication to the app store. You don't need those files unless you want to write your own Drupal iPhone application, and in that case they are an excellent reference point when starting a project like that.

Sucks I haven't been able to get back to this project.
I've been very busy over the past few months developing iPhone projects for clients.
Things are finally slowing down and to top it off, we have a sponsor for iDrupal now!
I promise things will start moving again and to top it off from all the new stuff I have learned in the last few months, I will be recoding it to be a lot nicer and easier to use.
The idrupal_theme will be completely redone.
This application will require services which was not something I originally wanted to do because I wanted setup to be easy for everyone and one less dependency is always great.
A new feature I will be able to implement in the new version as well is video saving for only 3G S devices if on 3.1.x or greater.
I will try and post an update sometime next week after planning is done. Planning of the new version will for sure happen next week!

Will this be a native iphone application or through the browser?
#30
Totally subscribing to this, I can't wait!
#31
production on the new version has officially started.
Attached is a pre-comp so you can see some progress. This comp is only for the 1 admin screen but it gives you a general feel of how the UI will be.
#32
Yes!!! looks good so far, I am so excited and cant wait for the finished product!
#33
Thanks, this is great news. What I am most interested in isn't really this application or its functionality but a working native iPhone app that plays nicely with Drupal. The idea is to use this as an example to create other different iPhone->Drupal apps. So you can count me in as excited, but for a different reason. Just wanted to mention this as I think your work here has broad applicability beyond whatever you write into the app itself. No pressure :)
#34
This looks awesome! Thanks for your hard work

Noted the release of jQTouch -- opens some really cool possibilities of doing a non-app store drupal managment app for the iphone.
What's doubly exciting is that then multiple cooks could work on it.

Any word when this will be out for the masses?

Hey Darnell, if you change those settings in the "Edit issue settings" section, you are actually updating the status of the issue. So in this case you assigned the issue to yourself, and now you are responsible for developing the iPhone app, hahaha. I figured that wasn't your intent, so I set everything back to the original settings.

Can someone share how this will work from a user's perspective.
Will we each be able to make an app or is there just one app that someone downloads from the appstore but that app gives them access to a catalogue of others.
I am just trying to figure out the use case.
Thanks.
#49
The App is the iDrupal iPhone client that will allow you to edit and add content to your site through the app itself rather than logging in via your url.
See Comment #31 for screenshot as an example!

I can't wait this is done and working! Million thanks for your efforts!

jamesmcd: All iPhone apps will run on iPad and can either be run at standard iPhone size or double size to fill the space and it will still look great. There could be an iPad specific app that uses all the beautiful real estate of the iPad.
Just downloaded the source. If I have time on Vacation, I'm going to play with it.
#55
Downloaded the app, opened up the xcode project and just did a quick build and run to check it out but got a few errors.
error: syntax error 'AT_NAME' token
error: syntax error before '}' token
fatal error: method definition not in @implementation context
Anyone else getting any errors?
#56
I can get it to run in 3.1 but it won't build in 3.0, I get the attached errors. It will build in 2.2 but I get an error asking if the settings were configured to use my host name.
In 3.0, it looks like it is just displaying the web page which is styled with the iDrupal theme (set in admin/idrupal).

Hi, checking in to see if the iPhone app was progressing. I've been using the Blogpress app to add content to my Drupal site, which works pretty well, but doesn't let you access cck fields.
I'm sure there are a lot of people like myself who would gladly pay money for this app when it does launch. Thanks for your work on this.

It's looking like this is vaporware but there is another in the works that I just saw: http://drupal.org/project/drupad

I've updated the project page.

I'm giving up for now. Hopefully some day there can be some interest to get this going again.
This would have been 100% free in the appstore.
