Great module, thank you all!

Here is my question:
I have created a custom format "F Y" that displays the date like "March 2009" which is fine for English visitors.
Now the problem is that I would like to display it in the language of the user, for example in Dutch it would be "maart 2009".

Any ideas what would be the best way to do this?

I'm not sure whether this is Date or Views related. In any case, I've asked a similar question in the views queue: http://drupal.org/node/362751

I was looking for a solution and found that date_api.nl.po has not been translated. That is where the names of the months etc are mentioned. I made a quick translation, my first so please correct when necessary.

In the current 6.x-2.1 version the date_api.nl.po is allready included. I think you are talking about another version?
Anyway, I will debug why this translation is not used (line 627 in date_api.module)

Have you set up Date Locale? It works with the Locale module to let you define locale-specific date formats, which should translate correctly. I see that there is a Dutch translation in the file, so it should be used automatically.

Be sure to use the latest -dev version when debugging things in case there are changes there which are not yet in the release you're using. Also be sure to clear all your caches and double-check how you have your field set up.

If you still have problems after that, hopefully someone familiar with translations can help you.

I had a similar issue to the original poster. After updgrading from 6.x-2.0 to 6.x-2.2, Date Locale seemed to work fine (i.e. month name was shuffled around correctly when switching languages), but the actual month and day names were not being translated. Turns out I had to reimport translation packages. Hope this helps!
