Issue Summary
I've seen a number of threads and projects surrounding importing from Word or various file types. Does the footnotes module work in conjunction with any of those? It would be great to be able to import footnotes along with the rest of a .doc.

Not to my knowledge they don't.
OTOH I think you may be able to copy paste from word - including footnotes - with some of the visual editors like FCKEditor. But I may of course be completely wrong there.
There also used to be available a MS Word plugin which allowed you to copy text as HTML directly, but I don't remember what it's called anymore or if it even exists for modern versions.
But anyway, none of these approaches would have anything to do with this module.

Thanks for your help, I'll have a look at the wysiwyg editors.
