I created and tested a newsletter, but for some reason the newsletter I got missed out the site's top domain, so instead of containing a link to "http://www." etc etc it contained a link to the folder only, so "/news/2006/01" etc etc
Can anyone help?

We are working on full url support, simplenews will offer this in a future release. For the moment, you'll have to type the full url in the newsletter body, including your site's base url.

Title: No full links to the site in newsletter » No full links to the site in html newsletter
Version: 4.6.x-1.x-dev » 7.x-1.x-dev

I changed the title, just to make the issue clear: there is no full url support when sending the newsletter as html mail. If you send it as plain text, absolute paths are inserted into the text.

Fixed. Only for <a href=""> tags for the moment, not yet for <img src="" />, stylesheets, javascipt, ...

Status on this is 'Closed'. Does this mean the issue with no images in HTML emails have been fixed?

Just downloaded the latest CVS snapshot for my 4.7-beta4, and I still only get links to images instead of an inline image in the email.
