I just tried uploading an .html document. The document uploaded fine but the mime-types are incorrect, and when I go to download, there is no set file extension, and the file defaults to a bin-type. No good...

You have checked the "Hide file extension"-Option?

I'm not sure I really understand your issue.
I uploaded an index.html file, mime/type in Type column is text/html. When I download it, it is still a text/html file.
