The handbook says "There's some limited support for views strings translation using the included Views Translation module. Currently it allows translation of views title, header, footer and field names."

Can anyone explain how this works, so we can add that to the handbook http://drupal.org/node/313262

The views support is in progress (waiting also on views patches), see all the issues about it.

If you want a short answer: it doesn't work.
