michelleWell, to be fair, shadow topics link to the forum, not the post, which is really a PITA on a fast moving forum. Let's leave it a bit so he can see the message about using his tracker and then it can go.
The attitude may not be great but the frustration is understandable. If you don't know about the tracker, finding a post again, especially if it's been moved, is really hard.

silverwing commentedI moved that post out of hosting-support to general support (and I've moved a few lately).
But I agree that linking to the post in it's new location makes a lot more sense than linking to a forum.
I'm *sure* an issue has been filed on this - right? - at least for the redesign?

silverwing commentedMichelle, found this issue #13793: link to moved forum topic, not the new forum - still able to do this?
michelleI'm probably not going to be doing any work on core, but the code is there in AF if someone wants to give it a go.

avpadernoI am moving the report to the proper queue to be considered.
avpadernoMaybe it's too late to be considered for Drupal 7; let's see if it can go for Drupal 8.

michelleMarked #13793: link to moved forum topic, not the new forum as a duplicate of this since this has a patch.

naheemsays commentedThis seems more like a bugfix than a feaure request... Is there a way to get that patch tested without having to re upload?
avpadernoI re-rolled the patch for Drupal 7. IMO, as the change doesn't create problems to the existing modules, the change can be done also in Drupal 7.
I am not sure if to consider it a bug, as the reported link is correct; it just takes the user to the forum where the post has been moved, not to the post.

naheemsays commentedSeems like a usability bug to me.

michelle@nbz: Yeah, I'd agree with that. On a small forum it might not be a big deal but it leads to a real PITA on drupal.org when they see their post has been moved but then they have to hunt through potentially several pages on that forum to find it.
