Please, add a step to the unsubscription process.

Appropriately enough, there is an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every newsletter. Anyone who follows that link may unsubscribe the corresponding email.

Newsletters are for most webmasters, a way to keep in touch with their audience, and also spread when users start fowarding the newsletters to family and friends.

If user A forwards the newsletter to a number of friends and acquaintances, anyone of them may through malice unsubscribe A from the newsletter, without A's knowledge of the fact.

Please, add a step: send a unsubscribe confirmation letter to the subscribee, with a new link to complete the unsubscription process.

thanks.

B.

Good Idea, Same problem here. Looking for a possible solution.

This is secure process, but is a lot of hassle for the user. For registered users, I think the unsubscribe link should go to edit the users newsletters, and only with the username and password may a user unsubscribe.

For unregistered users, maybe instead of a confirmation email, just send an email notice saying:

You have been unsubscribed. If you were not unsubscribed intentionally, you may subscribe again. If someone is unsubscribing you, you may register, so that a password is required to be unsubscribed.

Maybe removing the extra step will take off some of the hassle.

Has anything been resolved with this yet? This is a big problem for my users. I second the thought of registered users going to their account page to unsubscribe.

Phil

The easy solution is to theme the newsletter footer. Remove the unsubscribe link and replace it by a link to /newsletter/subscriptions
