In the right hand block area we currently have the ability to sort by last release. Can we include a sort by first release. That would show new modules as currently we have no way of identifying new modules. If, say, we selected version 6 on the facets then sort by first release descending users could see what modules are hot, just out of the oven. The user can then check the new modules only as far back they last performed that particular search rather than the present solution which is basically going through the entire list of modules and using memory to deduce what's new. A first release on 5, 6, 7 versions functionality would be very useful.

It's that the job of the "Creation date" order?

yes creation date gives you every module that was created in date order. The newest ones (by date) first.
I typically use recent activity. which shows me which modules are actively being developed.

Apologies, couldn't see the wood for the trees ... however does that work on a distinct branch basis?

Project: Drupal.org infrastructure » Project
Version: » 6.x-1.x-dev
Component: Other » ApacheSolr integration

No, it doesn't work on a per branch basis. Could be a nice improvement. Let's move that to the project module.
