i am learning drupal. I am begginer. Yesterday i installed xampp framework module.
When i checked the permission settings it is telling that that xampp _user is missing i found that ther is no such module in drupal 6.x. My drupal version 6.12.

Help me to solve this problem and my email address is avis85@gmail.com

XMPP User module is in the 6.x-2 dev version. It is the one you should use not the 6.x-1.0 version

Am opening this ticket because NOWHERE does it say in the XMPP Framework page to use 6.2-dev. On the contrary the 6.1 is the recommended module.

PLEASE CORRECT THIS INFORMATION ON THE MODULE PAGE.

Thanks,
liza

Right and if they do not install 6.2.dev then they will not have the xmpp_user module. So i do not see the issue it is a mute point. If they want the xmpp_user module they use the 6.2-dev branch. If they still use 6.1 then no xmpp_user module is even present in that. Hence this is user error not the module or the module pages error and hence the reason this was closed.

I agree with Liza

I just wasted my time, being a USER of drupal rather than a developer, looking for a module that clearly states on the module page "in Red' that it is missing??

Maybe a note on the project page could be helpful for us lowly users to know that we will find the warning on the modules page.

WHOA DARREN!

you're telling me it's my favorite.

ARE YOU TALKING TO ME?
ARE YOU ****ING TALKING TO ME?

and no, am not joking about the outrage.

DUDE! am testing the friggin' module THAT SAYS RIGHT THERE ON THE PAGE THAT 6.1 IS THE RECOMMENDED VERSION.

how in the world is it MY FAULT that YOU IMPROPERLY added a module that doesnt work UNLESS YOU'RE RUNNING THE USER DEPENDENCY.

what am i missing here?!?!

screenshot included, just because :)

am not singling you out on this. am actually making it my duty to point these things out to developers who forget about the website builders who are into testing the modules from the user and usability standpoint.

hope you understand why this correction on your project page is important.

Liza

I did not mean it that way, but i will try and explain.

The xmppframework 6.1-0 module that is on the website has no dependency on the xmpp_user module. Only the 6.x.2 dev has this dependency.

I must seriously be missing something in these posts so if i am please correct me, i just don't understand where the possibility of the xmpp_user module in the 6.x-1.0 version is.

I looked at the above screenshot and then downloaded the 6.x-1.0 module and it is the correct version with no xmpp_user module in it. All xmpp_user functionality in this version is still in the xmppclient module.

The xmpp_user module is in the 6.x-2.dev branch which is about to be released but it is definitely not in the 6.x-1.0 branch. I honestly am not understanding what is going on with these posts i said the module is in 6.x-2.dev not the recommened hence the reason no mention.

Please let me know if i am missing something in this, i can't see where the issue was in closing this issue because it did not exist for the 6.x-1.0 branch

Please advise.

Respectfully,
Darren Ferguson

Just jumping in here, but reading back to the beginning it looks like this argument is based on just a simple misunderstanding, Liza. The original ticket was asking about the need for the module "xmpp_user" for version 1 of XMPP Framework. darren.ferguson seems to have closed the ticket because, explained perhaps more thoroughly in comment 4 than comment 1, version 1 cannot have a dependency on xmpp_user as xmpp_user did not exist until version 2. The code for version 1 does not ask for xmpp_user, because xmpp_user was written after version 1 was published.

The confusion seems to be a misinterpretation of the original ticket. darren.ferguson wasn't telling S.Siva he should use version 2, but was explaining that the questioned module was a dependency of version 2. On the contrary to the assertion in comment 3, afaik darren.ferguson was telling S.Siva he should be using version 1 (as S.Siva most likely installed version 2 by mistake, thus getting the xmpp_user error).

P.S. As an afterthought, I've gotta say I'm a little surprised that someone who lists participation in (and by extension representation of) what I guess to be the Drupal documentation / marketing team on their profile would use such hostile language in a ticket thread, especially one that the person rather apparently spent less time than necessary reading before assaulting a two-month-closed issue. You represent our community, and are, in that capacity, swearing at developers?
