Your date API is awesome and permit to make whatever you want. However, I was wondering if it'll be possible to add the javascript date selector to date fields which already exist in Drupal such as "Publication date".

Thus It could be easier to contributors to do their job.

This MIGHT be happening in D7... I really don't know.
But, I think it is outside the scope of the Date module right now.
