Having trouble using MimeMail on my Drupal 6.12 installation I decided to disable and uninstall the MimeMail module because when it was turned on, SimpleNews did not send any emails at all. Other issues are reporting that already, so I won't go deeper on that issue here.

However, MimeMail was uninstalled but SimpleNews is still making use of it. So I had to physically remove the mimemail directory from my modules directory to get SimpleNews to work again.

That sounds quite unusual to me and shouldn't be the case.

This is not something that Simplenews can solve. It has to do with the system variable 'smtp_library'. The current Mime Mail module seems to handle this differently. Perhaps it is solved now.
