When I do a Mass Import from a local directory, the User Comments for each individual file seem to be set by default to disabled.

To change this, I use the Album Contents tab to set each picture to Read/Write. Unfortunately this does not seem to work and the only way I can allow comments seems to be by setting each picture individually.

Any movement on this? It's a bit of a pain to have to manually go through each photo to turn comments back on.

This scenario plays itself out when uploading media using either method through mass import, by selecting each of 5 files at a time or selecting the local files.

I think what you want is on the admin/settings/content-types/acidfree page. There you can set the default values for all of this stuff. I have my site set to allow for read/write comments on my acidfree stuff and it works just fine with mass import.
