User has to log-out to connect with facebook ?

Issue http://drupal.org/node/496866 is a duplicate of this issue. Subscribing. Beta7 did not have this string of hoops to jump through... it "just worked" from my experience. Many people cannot find the way to get it working now.

This is a stopper for most people, making the module unusable. Modifying priority unless someone disagrees.

If the visitor is logged in to Facebook when they first visit your website, then the Facebook Login settings are virtually unattainable to them. (Especially if they keep themselves logged in to Facebook all the time.)

This really is a show stopper....

I agree. I've been looking for a way to link around this but I haven't, the module is great but it's only really viable if the user can link their existing account to facebook after the fact.

Shouldn't this be a support request, as it directly hinders module usability, more than a regular feature that would make usability nicer/more efficient?

I disagree. It is not a support issue.
This module worked fine before, and this is a bug introduced in the beta8 version.

Just to make this thread clear:

To get this module's login and/or friends block to work, initially, one must go to facebook first and log off of facebook.

Then, the user must go to the site which has the module installed, and click the facebook login option, where they must log into facebook again through the module's popup interface. THEN, and only then, will the user be presented with the options in their account settings to keep their account linked to facebook.

It seems to me — a fix for this module would be to automatically log anyone off of facebook when they click on the facebook login link using the module for the first time. Then the person could login at the module successfully, starting the whole process.

There is no problem logging in and out of the module or facebook AFTER the account is linked successfully.

Am I making sense? Will the maintainer comment? :-)

FB Connect works like (and actually is) a FB application, by agreeing to "connect", you are installing the FB application and granting certain permissions. I doubt you would be able to log someone off before they install your application as they have not granted you any permissions to access their FB account. You could provide a link to FB and tell the user that they need to logout, but from what I know about FB Connect, this shouldn't be necessary.

My guess is that the module is checking for a FB Session when it should also be checking to see if the user has installed the application (i.e., already "connected").

Are we talking here about 356755: what about the case when facebook user already has a account on drupal site? Although that issue is closed it does not work for me...

When I am logged in with Drupal user credentials, I expect that on the "Facebook Connect" tab I will have:

• Configuration checkboxes - when the account is linked to Facebook
• Some button to link the account to Facebook - when the account is not yet linked

In the second case I don't get any button... Only the message: "Your account is not linked with a Facebook account or you are not authorized to edit the Facebook connect settings of this account."

Same here... I'm only getting the "Your account is not linked with a Facebook account..." message, but no way to link.
