candidate withdrawal from poll

hi there -

i'm hoping to determine how i can handle (or if it's possible to handle) a case in which a candidate withdraws candidacy after voting has begun. is there any way to force Advanced Poll to eliminate a candidate and redistribute votes without invalidating the results? i have been looking at the warnings about removing a voting option after voting begins and would like to figure out a way to do this, as it is a real likelihood in the election i am thinking of running with this module. any guidance would be appreciated! thank you.
