I'm not sure if I'm missing the intent of the author links, or missing something in the setup.
What I want is for an author to only be able to choose from the terms that are linked to that account. I set up a vocabulary with two terms, one of which was linked to a user's account. However, when I went to create a node from that account, both terms were available, and if I select the unlinked one, then it shows up as the post author.
This doesn't make sense to me. I can't imagine allowing each user to replace their names with any other available names. I thought that that's what the linking was for, but it doesn't seem to do that, so I don't see what the linking buys you.
Many thanks

todd nienkerk commentedGary: I don't entirely follow what you're trying to do, so I'll explain what Author Taxonomy does and how linking works.
- AT allows you to assign one or more authors to a node. These authors are terms in a vocabulary.
- Linking an author term to a user account allows you to create a relationship between "Bob Smith" (the term) and "bobsmith" (the user). When the author names (terms) are displayed in the node's byline, those names can by linked (as in hyperlinked) to either (1) a list of all nodes tagged with that author name (term) or (2) the profile page of the user associated with that author name.
AT does not restrict what terms a user can access or use. It's simply a tool for attributing a node to one or more people using properly formatted and capitalized names instead of usernames. From the AT project page:

Gary Feldman commentedOK, so the linking is really intended in the opposite direction from what I wanted. Given a node, the link can take you from the taxonomy term that appears in lieu of a user to the linked user. What I was looking for is given a user, here are the aliases or pseudonyms under which that user can post.
