Add carat (»?) or similar to teaser?

Is there a way to add a », >>, or similar to the end of a Story teaser that links (like the "read more" link) to the whole Story page? If it requires a .php entry, which file in the Garland theme would the entry need to be placed in?

This module works, but....
the Read More Tweak module (http://drupal.org/project/ed_readmore) let me do what I wanted; but if anyone could point me to where in the template files (in 6.x) the regular "read more" link is implemented, would be helpful to know...thanks!
