Admin module does the exact same job (and much more), just much better.
I honestly don't see any reason to confuse users by two modules.
I propose to put a notice on the home page for all users suggesting switch to "admin" module instead.
Drupal5 version still has some purpose/usefulness, however.
I will make this change in a week.
Thank you.

psynaptic commentedWhat!?
I'll happily take over this module if you are no longer interested in it. Not everyone likes admin module.

vertikal.dk commentedI would strongly urge continued maintenance of this neat little module, which I really like.
I'm not at all in favor of the somewhat bloated admin module with its own theme, icons and changes to page.tpl. The pinpoint style of the Block Edit module is much more to my liking.
Let those who want the whole package choose admin and the rest of us use little improvements like this.

irakli commentedWell, if there's interest, there's definitely no problem to keep it going.
I have to admit, though, I do like admin module's "transparent border" design over little white box we show on the hover. I think we can get close to that with some CSS changes.
Do you, guys, think it would be cool?
thx

psynaptic commentedI do quite like the hover border that admin module provides on blocks and nodes. It looks great.
The problem is that it's yet another style of hover links. We need consistency in the UI. I think the proper solution would be to create a Hover Link API which all modules and themes could use. This would have a default look, maybe like admin module's hover border, and also allow theming to change the look.

ryanilg commentedI agree. There needs to be some consistency. That way, there is only one css class to update if you want to change the overall look of hover links.
On the note of discontinuation, I personally prefer this module. It's small, and has one concentrated task which it does well.

irakli commentedTo clarify: psynoptic had a good point. "Admin" module is nice but it forces you to also enable the admin theme, which is not necessarily something you may need. So there is still value in this module. Therefore this issue is resolved.
psynaptic commentedWe need to create an API that other modules such as Views can use to provide hover links in a consistent way.
Anyone with ideas about how this should work should start sketching out ideas here.

psynaptic commentedSince #473268: D7UX: Put edit links on everything got committed it looks like we won't need this module to be ported to D7.
