Description

Hey there,

I followed the installation instructions exactly, and still no Page Ear. :-( I've tried it without CONDITIONS installed, with CONDITIONS installed and configured for ALWAYS. I've tried 5 different themes to assure it isn't my theme. I've tried my own jpegs, and the stock jpegs. I've tried the current PageEar release, and the dev version. Regarding my installations, I've tried putting the PageEar module into drupal>Sites>All>Modules, and installing it from there, with no results, and then I removed it, and tried putting PageEar in drupal/modules and installing it from there... also no results. I've tried Firefox, and IE. I know many people have/had problems regarding PageEar module.

Please tell me how to make it working.

Any help would be appreciated.

Try to look at this thread http://drupal.org/node/460470
I think you installed a module that seems abandoned but manfer has an update for this module and also provided an options of installing a pageear that has been released in GPL license.
Take a look and try it, it simply works after installation.

You can download his Pageear here - http://drupal.org/node/513952

I installed the module PageEar 6.x-2.0-rc1.

Everything I have operated works, except "image to show when the ad is not peeled".

I saw the demo page and has the same defect.

How do I get it to work or no solution at present?

@rgreyesb : much better if you provide a link to a site where you installed the pageear so we can see it also.

@manfer : there is a typo error in the pageTurn.js in line 170 and line 209, but I don't think it has something to do with rgreyesb problem, I think it is just an optional parameter for swf file. The word allways must be written as always.

It is after the word AllowScriptAccess. Sorry I dont want to open a new issue cause this is just a typo for an optional flash parameter if I'm not mistaken.

But one thing I notice and maybe other user in the future can notice is that if the pageear is positioned near a menu item / navigation or primary links and the page is not fully loaded, I mean waiting for all element to load specially the peel or the big flash image ( the writeobject function is called at the very bottom of the page ). The menu item becomes unclickable. This is more noticeable if you have a sucky internet connection but if you have a good broadband connection you have no problem.

The problem can be easily solved if you moved the pageear away from your menu or navigation links, example if your menu is on the top right then it is better to position your pageear in top left of the page and vice versa.

I think the problem of unclickable link has something to do with the peelDiv positioning and it's z-index property, but I think other pageear had this problem also, so maybe ignore this or add this to need work.

@regreyesb: I see the one installed on your site perfect from various different browsers. I still can not test firefox 3.5 linux. I hope soon ubuntu makes it available and see if there is something wrong.

@danreb: Please could you open another issue with the typo and other things you mention. Just copy & paste if you want. It is better to have different issues separated. For many many reasons ;) Please open always ( ;) I have to improve my english) a new issue no matter the simple it could be. I will answer there and when I'll make the correction I can link to the issue.

Could you please test with other browser on suse, or with other computer?

It would be very useful to know if you experiment that defect only on firefox 3.5 Opensuse.

I installed firefox 3.5.1 (named Shiretoko on ubuntu) and the sample page http://www.pageeargpl.co.cc works fine too.

I'm sorry I can't test Opensuse.

I'm going to mark this as fixed. The problem that started this issue was fixed and I think the module is working fine by now.

If someone still has any problem please open a new issue.
