I would like to make a sub-theme for this template, but I cannot.

I made the required sub-theme changes. See http://drupal.org/node/225125

I have sub-themed other themes with no problems, but a sub-theme of Simply Modern results in a loss of almost all styling. I tried many things, including adding the stylesheets definition to the .info file. But, nothing works.

Is it possible to sub-theme Simply Modern?
