Creating a release with an extra tag after a stable release, makes the project pages and the update status page inconsistent.
on the screenshots you can see that feedapi-6.x-1.6 is up to date by update status but it is not listed on the project page. Probably 1.6 should be the recommended and 1.7-beta3 should be listed as supported release on the project page.
yes, I know, only the major version number can be set as recommended, but as you can see the update status is much clever with choosing the most stable (recommended) release. The same logic should apply to releases on project pages.
