Most often, you want to backup your DB before running module updates.

Demo should provide a checkbox on the form of update.php to automate this task (checkbox being enabled by default, but default being configurable in Demo's settings).

Kick-start by smk-ka for 5.x. However, update.php in D5 does not use the normal Form API, so this form_alter() is never invoked.

Seems like this will be a D6-only feature.
