This looks like a module with potential. For my current purposes, it would be incredibly useful to be able to sign up contacts to existing simplenews newsletters, probably with checkboxes, and ideally be able to do this in bulk (ie. check boxes in a table).

I haven't had a chance to install this module yet, but do you think this would be possible?

I'm also wondering if contacts can be associated with site users, to make it easier to maintain contact details, but that's another issue, and I'll come back to it after I've tried the module.

I am sure it could be integrated with simple news and currently the code goes with content profile nodes so the information can be retrieved from there.

Darren, as you described it, contacts pull missing data from profiles. Simplenews already works with users, although I don't know how that works with content profiles. Basically, the minimum requirements would be

1. Contact manager can subscribe contacts' emails to arbitrary simplenews lists.
2. Contact manager can subscribe users (profiles?) to the same simple news lists, or at minimum be aware of lists that users are subscribed to. The former might be better if a subscribed contact becomes associated with a user, so the subscription can be transferred.
3. Contact manager somehow deals with duplication (ie. if user is subscribed, unsibscribe contact from simplenews list)
4. Contact manager can unsubscribe both users and contacts.

The other way would be to only ever subscribe contacts, and automatically unsubscribe users.

Sorry i have not got back on this, i am not familiar with simple news however if someone wishes to supply a patch i can certainly look at this and look to get it into the module.
