Been a while since I saw any activity on this module, is it dead? No plans to be supported under Drupal7?

No it's not dead. The new version is going to be significantly better, leveraging the Google Feed API.
Right now that is 1-2 months out however.

I've had a play with the Google Feed API - looks good.
How's the ETA for a new Simplefeed looking?
