I have HTML tags like

appearing in the subscription emails being sent when a user registers/unregisters for newsletters. E.g

We have successfully received your request to subscribe to our newsletter.....

But if urls are present they appear correctly, without any tags
Any solution for this?

I expect this to be related to Mime Mail. Or perhaps some (simplenews) template thing. Simplenews only uses the configurable confirmation message and does not add any html.

All the emails my users get also contain HTML tags in the emails sent with Simplenews.

Changing status. Three month old is not critical.
