Description
After feedAPI 6.x-1.9 upgrade i can't find how to set the number of "promoted items" from a feed. Is it possible to do so? I want to promote only 2 or 3 items from some feeds and only 1 fron others like in prior feedapi versions.
Thanks

I just need to say this, I have read through the other threads in this Issue Tracker, and there seem to be a lot of developer-centric discussions about how to make views to compensate for this removed functionality.
The _one_ reason we shifted from Plone to Drupal was, simply, that the Plone community became so developer centered that they forgot most of their users were not programmers, and were just trying to make do with some basic skills they needed so as to work with open sourced software.
The removal of a feature, with high mumbo-jumbo discussions in an obscure part of the site, however much sense it make to the geeks, just resulted in breaking my site. And with my skill sets, I do not know how to do a simple thing like setup views so that I show only a specified number of last updated items on my frontpage. It would be ethical, one would have thought, for a removed feature to follow with some tangible documentation to benefit us non-geeks.
I try and run a biggish site, with no budget, no big money, and none to spare for coders who charge 100s of USD per hour - the reason I chose Drupal in the first place was that I was able to make do with the provided stuff, only to realize this community seems to be dying, and the coders are writing for other coders.
Feeling betrayed once again, and not even hoping a simple solution from a non god, non geek, non developer point of view will be offered here.

deltab: That feaure was really misleading and it was a source of awful confusions. I clearly remember of such threads where in the end, it turned out that it wasn't an issue, but a misunderstanding of that former feature.
Very likely you can achieve this feature w/o a line of coding w/ http://drupal.org/project/workflow module
You're right, this should be doable by a simple user, but i think modules should not provide unrelated (especially overlapping) features.

Aron, I would have thought this would be done with Views (the tracker view provided with the module, or similar). In any case I need an explicit documentation.
There are many issues like this around FeedAPI - another one stopping me is Activity Stream, I just can't seem to figure out how to make FeedAPI and Activity Stream work together (I saw the many patches, and multiple threads, but again there is no solution that is known to work), so apologies about ranting on-and-on, but you see where I am coming from - I think a lot of this can be solved (and if you check my other posts, I do try and make sense of techie stuff, as much as I can), and one is simply hampered by lack of expertise in programming.

First let me start by saying that Feedapi is a great piece of work.
However, the removal of this feature (setting the number of promoted items) is really a loss to most of the users. It makes the things worse that there is a lack of documentation for working with Workflow to achieve similar result.
Hope the maintainer of the module will bring the feature back.

I think if there is a strong user demand for this feature, this should be documented in the README.txt.
If someone provides here a description about how to reach this functionality w/ 3rd party module OR provides an additional tiny extra module what provides this feature, i'm ready to put into FeedAPI base package.
