I wish to convert my existing dating website to use Drupal.

The job required is:

  1. INSTALL OF DRUPALFUN
Install and set up Drupalfun v2.1 (http://book.drupalfun.com/socialnetwork), which will be bought and paid for.

The details of this installation are described in the following ebook:
    http://book.drupalfun.com/drupalebook

To quote Dorien Herremans, the author of Drupalfun v2.1, "With this package and some basic knowledge on how to set up a basic Drupal site, you can have a site like drupalfun.com up and running in a few minutes."

Let's be realistic and say that this part will take a few hours at least.

  2. DEFINE PROFILE FIELDS
Define profile fields which are not included in Drupalfun v2.1, but which are wanted by my site, e.g.:
    • hair colour
    • hair length
    • marital status
    • etc.
  3. CONVERT DATA
Write scripts (or whatever) to enable transfer of most of the existing data. The current website is done using Skadate software (http://www.skadate.com), which you can look at to get an idea of the type of data involved (http://www.skadate.com/demo.php).

I do not need 100% of the data, but I don't want to lose too much either.

This stage involves then to actually do the transfer of the data.

  4. CUSTOMISE THEME
Some basic theme work will also be required to ensure particularly that the existing colour scheme and logo are transferred. I am not wanting to develop a new theme, but I am wanting to keep the colour scheme and the logo of the current site. The current theme is basically http://www.skadate.com/demo/member/events.php?layout=rr with a different logo.

I assume the Drupalfun is not good idea to move your web site to Drupal. The installation and configuration of Drupal project scheme are not expensive part of work, but with Drupalfun installation package you'll get big package of problems with customization and adaptation of your web site structure to Drupal platform. Therefore I also assume the budget you propose is insufficient for the task.

Yes, I would tend to agree, the cost is in the data migration and theme building (it will take more than you assume to have that in Drupal).

Your budget might cover the data migration but I don't know any developer who would bind themselves to such a project on a fixed budget as things can quickly go wrong with data migrations.
