Mentions are showing up but can't connect filter by a topic [#628840]

I setup tattler in a director so my url mysite.com goes to the install directly.

I see mentions.
When I sort mentions by topic, I get a page saying no mentions found.

i used the install profile from the tattler website btw.

You will see that there is a lot of content, but I can't filter by topic.

I know the topics were created.

Btw- if I am not logged in, I cannot see the topics in the bubble at the top of the page. Why is that?
