Does Drupal match with my project?

Hi all!
I am a Joomla and OsCommerce user and I've allready found this Drupal platform. The thing is that I want to create an online database of people in my city in the form of a family tree, like for example has www.myheritage.com
I know that the structure of Joomle doesn't match with this project. Maybe someone knows if it's possible with Drupal...

It looks like several people have been able to do this with Drupal.
There's a contrib project family tree 2 (warning: no maintainer) that may help. I don't have experience with it. There's also a more recent project, genmod module to connect GenMod.
There's also The Next Generation Integrate module which integrates with that software.
