The module AJAX allows you to submit forms in place (for me those placed in blocks with Form Block.) I'm assuming this must set the message in some other way that doesn't get hooked by Purr.

I'm sorry, I don't have time to test this as I don't use the AJAX module. If you can write a step by step guide on how to replicate your issue then I might be able to test it. I've just spent the last hour trying to replicate two similar issues with no luck. The posters need to leave much more detailed information to debug this issue.

I was able to reproduce this. Just try to use Purr on Webforms alongside Ajax and you see what we mean.
