Its going to sound really lazy, but is there any themes I can download to use to design with that wouldnt be breaching copyright?
Is that bad? any help much abliged, thanks

Hi

i would recommend you start with bluemarine (copy it from themes/bluemarine to sites/all/themes/bluemarine and rename it).

it's a very basic theme done with tables.

then you can try http://drupal.org/project/zen

Sorry I found Zen very difficult and seemed to be more complicated than it needed to be IMO
Im giving Foundation ago now

Theres a list of starter themes here, many of them are very good, Zen is one option but there are other more simple starter themes like Basic and Clean, and then some which are much more complex like Studio. Several have a lot of theme settings such as Adaptivetheme and Fusion, and theres the pure grids based themes like Blueprint and Ninesixty.

It really depends on your skill level and requirements, play around until you find one that suits your purpose.
