Privatemsg or Messaging Framework integration

I was wondering if there is a privatemsg integration so that I can send a message to site users instead of emails. Or even better to use the messaging framework. I also have found a module that already seems to provide this functionality Messaging Sendto. Maybe these two projects could join forces.
