I have created several Forum Containers and Forums.
i.e. Public Forum, Members Forum, Committee Forum

I have alsohave Several Roles
i.e. anonymous user, authenticated user & committee member

I would like to restrict access in the order as provided in examples above.

A pointer as to how this is done would be helpfull.

TIA

Thanks for that, Managed to get that implemented.

One of my Forums is available to non members for viewing only and having used forum access I have set this up.
Couple of problems

1. I do not want to show "Login to post new content in the forum." as they will not be allowed to post and I do not want to encourage non members signing up

2. Is there a way I can restrict menu items in a similar way? So that certain menu items are only available to certain members.

Your first point isn't really doable without creating a custom module. For the second one, you can use the Menu Per Role module.

Contact me to contract me for D7 -> D10/11 migrations.

Regarding Point No.1. Fair dues, if that is not possible, I am now thinking I could instead simply hide the forum menu from public using the menu per role module as you suggested and then use an RSS viewer to show the public the news in the one forum that is open to the public. This should then not show the login box.

a. Am I on the right track here?

b. Any recomendations on the preferred RSS reader I could use for this?

c. Also, I can not seem to figure out how to get rid of the small rss image at the bottom of my front page.

TIA for any help
